 The Humanist Action League (HAL) is a Colorado Springs-based educational and social service organization that promotes humanist principles and protects the rights of freethinkers, humanists, and other non-religious people in eastern Colorado. HAL works through a multifaceted program of humanist services dedicated to a much-neglected community of skeptical Americans who remain silent in an environment dominated by religious organizations.

The new organization's purpose is to provide rational humanist education and much needed social services to the growing number of non-religious freethinkers in the Colorado Springs area.

HAL's programs focus on four areas:

1) research on FTCS members' beliefs as freethinkers, on the demographics of Colorado Springs' secular community, and on social service abuses against the non-religious in the region;

2) humanist educational and social leadership development;

3) educational and defensive services supporting an alienated skeptical community; and

4) a regional humanist information and media center.

HAL's current efforts focus on area one above. We are in the process of studying the demographics of Colorado Springs' secular community and quantifying this information. Once complete, this information will effectively direct our efforts the other program areas.
